The Session and Diaconate met together before meeting separately to discuss and pray for shepherding issues within our parishes.
The Personnel Committee reported that Rev. Tim Geiger is currently considering several serious candidates for the business manager position. Also, Rev. Brock Garrigan continues to work on the organizational review at Tenth. The committee is also looking into HR software to increase efficiency and minimize problems which occur because they do not have a centralized way of handling personnel and payroll.
The Building Committee has settled on a gate design and contractor for the courtyard which will be installed sometime in the fall. At the same time, the fence will be replaced. The improvements to the sanctuary heating system is on track to begin this fall, with the expectation of completing all work before the winter heating season.
Continue to pray for the Pulpit Committee and the Nominating Committee, especially for wisdom and direction in the matters they discuss and decide.
Pray for Dr. Gibson and his family as he is carrying a heavy load between his time as stated supply at Tenth and as his classes begin at Westminster Theological Seminary (WTS). The Session is pleased to report that our presbytery approved Dr. Gibson as stated supply for another year.
The Session approved the following Projects of the Month:
- October: Whosoever Gospel Mission
- November: Westminster Theological Seminary
- December: Tenth’s Refugee Outreach
The Session welcomes Mr. Brad Jefferies and Mr. Jack Setio, both WTS students, as new interns at Tenth. Mr. Jefferies is currently teaching a Sunday school class on worldviews.
“And this is my prayer, that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ…” (Philippians 1:9-10, NIV).
Sincerely for the Session,
George K. McFarland, Clerk of Session
