Membership
At Tenth Presbyterian Church we believe that to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ necessarily entails becoming a member of a local church body (Acts 2:41,47; 5:14; 11:24)
Not only is this the pattern we see in the Bible, but the local church is also God’s ordained means for preserving and maturing His people in the Gospel (Eph. 4:11-16; Heb. 13:7,17).
How do I become a member of Tenth Church?
To become a member of Tenth Church, we invite you to begin by attending regularly for at least three months and participating in corporate worship. This helps you become familiar with our community and rhythms. As part of getting to know us, we encourage you to enroll in the Intro to Tenth Class—a three-week course offered several times a year—which provides an overview of our church’s mission, beliefs, and life together. Beyond worship, we hope you’ll engage more deeply by joining a Bible School class or small group.
When you’re ready to take the next step, you can enroll in the New Members Class. This six-week course, offered each spring and fall, explores the basics of Reformed theology, the reasons behind our worship practices, the structure and ministries of Tenth, and what it means to live as Christians in community. At the conclusion of the class, those who wish to join Tenth will have the opportunity to share their testimonies with the parish elders as part of the membership process.
Baptism
We believe that Jesus has given two sacraments to his Church, the Lord’s Supper (Mt. 26:26-29) and Baptism (Mt. 28:18-20).
Baptism is intended to communicate two things. First, it signifies our union with Christ and participation in all of his saving work through faith in him. Second, it signifies our membership in the covenant community of God’s people. At Tenth we believe that baptism is to be given to all who profess faith in the Lord Jesus and to the children of believing parents (covenant children).
