Internship Program

We endeavor to disciple and train the next generation of pastors and ministry leaders through our internship programs. Our pastoral internship program prepares men for pastoral ministry in the Presbyterian Church in America, while our other internships prepare men and women for a variety of ministry and service opportunities in the church. Priority is given to Tenth members and attendees.

Three kinds of internships are available:

Pastoral Interns

Role

Pastoral Interns are men preparing for ordination to pastoral ministry. They are involved in a full range of pastoral duties, including teaching, preaching, discipling, leading worship, and exercising spiritual care. The pastoral internship is designed to satisfy roughly half of the Presbytery’s requirements for a pastoral internship (Presbytery requires one year of full-time ministry).

Requirements

  • Seminary enrollment
  • Sense of call to pastoral ministry
  • High degree of spiritual maturity
  • Potential for ministry
  • Complete application process
  • Rigorous interview

Commitment

  • September through August (with vacation time) or June through May (with vacation time)
  • 15 hours/week

Staff Interns

Role

Staff Interns are women preparing for vocational ministry. They are involved in a wide range of duties, including teaching, discipleship, and administration.

Requirements

  • Interest in vocational ministry
  • High degree of spiritual maturity and potential for ministry
  • Complete application process
  • Rigorous interview

  • 15 hours/week

Observer Interns

Role

Observer Interns have the opportunity to study a particular area of ministry in the church (specific areas are listed in the application). The observation internship is designed to give exposure to the ministry of Tenth Church, and partially to meet seminary supervised ministry requirements for men or women.

Requirements

  • Interest in particular area of ministry
  • High degree of spiritual maturity and potential for ministry
  • Complete application process
  • Approval by member of pastoral staff
