Colombia Reformada
Live in the Reformed way! This is what God has called us to, as we understand and live out the gospel of God’s grace. Colombia is a country in which half of the population lives in desperate poverty, and much of the country is gripped by control of guerrilla and paramilitary groups. This on-going conflict since the 1960s has led to a massive movement of farmers to urban shanty-towns. Large scale injustices and corruption have left millions looking for hope. Colombia is very open and receptive to the gospel today. The Lord tells us, "If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday" (Isaiah 58:10). It is in this context that the Colombian pastors are planting new churches, training leaders, and reaching out to the unchurched with the gospel of grace and mercy.
Prayer & Financial Needs
However, to do this effectively takes financial resources and prayer from many. These church planters are ministering among the poor, and thus have an insufficient support base to expand. Colombia Reformed is the ministry that was called into existence to support the work of church planting, leadership development, theological education, and mercy ministry on the north coast of Colombia through that region’s presbytery of the Evangelical Reformed Presbyterian Church of Colombia. Colombia Reformed is supported by several PCA churches, including Tenth. Short-term missionaries from these churches have established good relationships with the leaders in this presbytery and have a burden to help them.
How You Can Help
Please join us and invite your friends to hear about how God is at work in Colombia and how you can be a part of it. Rev. Rafael Leal, pastor and seminary president in Barranquilla, will be sharing what God is doing on the North Coast and the vision for expansion of the work. Additionally we will hear delightful piano playing from Colombian concert pianist Leonardo LeSan, including some Colombian tunes. Enjoy Colombian food as well. ¡Viva Reformada! is our benefit dinner happening May 17, 7:00 pm at Tenth Church. Please register for the benefit dinner either onlin or by emailing Kari Randall.
