If you read our March door-to-door outreach recap and are a Christian health care student or medical professional who would like to participate in a medical outreach, you may still have an opportunity!
Medical Campus Outreach (MCO) will be holding another outreach in North Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon, April 12, this time partnering with One Hope Community Church. Like our previous outreaches, health care students and professionals will be going door-to-door in the community, providing blood pressure and blood sugar screens and sharing the love of Christ through conversation and prayer with those they meet. The outreach begins at 12:30 PM with an hour of training before the teams set out, and concludes at 5 PM with a potluck meal at the church afterward—the meals are always a favorite part of the outreach, with many delicious contributions brought by all.
The area we'll be serving has a dense Hispanic population, and for this reason teams are accompanied by bilingual church members who serve as interpreters. This particular outreach is also near Esperanza Health Center, a Christian, federally qualified health center, and our partner for MCO’s summer project, the Summer Medical Institute. During this outreach Esperanza will offer in-home HIV tests to the community, as well.
If you’re interested in participating, please contact Holly for information and registration. We go out rain or shine (clearly—see the previous post!), but we'll pray for milder weather and for many open doors and hearts.
