Dear Tenth Presbyterian Congregation,
We are grateful for the generous support of Tenth Presbyterian Church this Thanksgiving season. Your congregation provided hundreds of meals for homeless men and women at Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission. Thank you for supporting this very special Thanksgiving meal.
Through your generous donations, we were able to provide more than just a great Thanksgiving meal; we were able to change lives by meeting the practical and spiritual needs of the disadvantaged in the Philadelphia area. Once someone’s heart begins to open, their life begins to change. The programs at the Mission help make this difference by providing meals, education, counseling, life-skills, and hope to those who need it most.
This year’s Thanksgiving meal was larger than ever! We served the meal throughout a four hour block. Near the end you could tell that everyone was “fat and happy” (as the saying goes) because no one took advantage of our “last call” offer before closing up the kitchen. We were also blessed with volunteers who were willing to help in any way possible in order to keep the day running smoothly.
It warmed my heart to see all the food donations that came in the week of Thanksgiving. It is a tangible representation of the outpouring of love from the Christian community of Philadelphia. I never cease to smile when I hear of a church fulfilling their calling to help the poor and needy in their own community.
If you would like to get more involved with our Mission then consider partnering with us as an individual by making a monetary donation, serving a meal, or sharing our stories. Again, thank you for your generosity when choosing to feed the homeless this Thanksgiving.
Yours in Christ’s Service,
Elizabeth Bowers, Director of Development
