To give thanks for God’s providence and the end of slavery in the United States, Tenth Church will sponsor a Jubilee Day Dinner. Let us come and join together in a time of encouragement, remembrance, and celebration. These special days included prayer meetings, songs, food, and celebrating.

From the Encyclopaedia Britannica: "The following year, on June 19, 1866, the first official Juneteenth celebrations took place in Texas. The original observances included prayer meetings and the singing of spirituals, and celebrants wore new clothes as a way of representing their newfound freedom." (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica. "Juneteenth." Encyclopedia Britannica, June 17, 2025. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Juneteenth.)

We will enjoy several spirituals, sung by Tenth's own Suzannah Waddington.
We will enjoy Ethiopian food, prepared by Tenth's own Elizabeth Bekele.
We will recognize those who are serving or have served in our nation's military. Dress uniforms are welcomed and encouraged.
We will play Jubilee Day Lingo, a bingo like game with prizes.
We will end our time together in prayer.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend! Invite your friends and neighbors!
