Visual continuity for an identity requires consistent typography. As a general rule, use Adobe Garamond for headings and titles, and Lato for body copy. This mirrors the logo itself: “Tenth” is set in Adobe Garamond Regular, and the “Presbyterian Church” subline is set in Lato.
These two type families — along with their complete families of light, bold, italic, etc. — may be used in the text of Tenth publications, print and digital alike. When in doubt: reach for Garamond to set something apart as a headline or title, and reach for Lato for everything a reader will read as running text.
For special events, other fonts are allowed, provided they help to convey the design intent of the content. However, our primary fonts should be used for perennial and ongoing pieces.
Adobe Garamond
ABCDFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
1234567890
A classic serif with a warm, literary feel. This is our heading font: use it for the logotype itself, page and section titles, formal headlines, and pull quotes. It’s not intended for long stretches of body copy, in print or on screen — save it for the words that should stand apart.
Lato
ABCDFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
1234567890
A clean, humanist sans-serif that stays legible at small sizes and on screens. This is our body font: use it for the “Presbyterian Church” subline, and for the bulk of body copy everywhere — print and digital alike (web, email, slides, bulletins, brochures), plus UI elements like buttons, labels, and navigation.
