On September 1 there will be a Day of Prayer at the 9am hour and all are invited to attend to pray together for Tenth. The elders encourage you to attend to share in praying for the many aspects of the church and its ministries. We were encouraged several weeks ago by one sermon to “pray boldly.”
The Building Committee reported that the courtyard project is progressing well. There are no surprises so far and the work is only a few days behind schedule. It is unclear whether any of the $50,000 contingency has been used. An open item is what type of gate should be used to replace the roll-up gate. A replacement gate was not included in the budget. However, a recent security related grant that Tenth applied for includes replacing the roll–up gate. If the grant is approved, the money will become available. Also, some painting remains to be done on the exterior of the 1710 Building. The Carriage House also needs to be painted.
The Pulpit Supply Committee reported that in the 9 and 11am worship services preachers have been scheduled through Labor Day; the 6:30pm worship services have been scheduled through August with Rev. Vanderveen doing a majority of the preaching with support from our teaching elders. Please pray for the ongoing process of choosing an interim and stay tuned.
The Personnel Committee reported that the staff and pastoral reviews are ongoing. This month second reviewers will be assigned for the pastors. The committee is exploring ways in which they can support the pastoral and administrative staff.
The Security Committee reported that they are reviewing a policy draft related to loitering on the premises of the church. The goal of the policy is to create a measure of legal protection.
Please continue to pray for our Nominating Committee, chaired by Ruling Elder Russ Pfeifer, as they seek out candidates for officers in the church.
Again, the elders of Tenth appreciate the congregation’s support and prayers during these months of transition of pastors. Particularly, pray for the Lord’s provision for all our needs as we move into the last quarter of the year. Pray for those who represent Tenth before our city officials in seeking resolutions to our parking issues on Spruce and Pine Streets.
“Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.” Psalm 71:3 (NIV)
Sincerely for the Session,
