The Building Committee is working on a Delancey Courtyard gate as well as other minor improvements to that space. They noted the importance of a gate in light of recent incidents. The committee is also evaluating the sanctuary heating, which is in a state of disrepair and may require significant capital to keep it functional.

The Personnel Committee is evaluating compensation and job descriptions in light of the number of open positions. The committee has been interviewing candidates for Jim Hess’s position and a sexton position. The committee also discussed the need for a policy related to the usage of the three apartments in 1710 Spruce.

The Session approved the replacement of our Fall Theology Night with “Westminster: Seminary on Saturday.” Rev. Vanderveen is coordinating with Westminster Theological Seminary for this event. It means that people will not have to travel into the city on a Friday evening but rather can participate on a Saturday with good teaching from the faculty at Westminster. It will be held in October on the theme, “Shadows of Christ in the Old Testament.” More to come on this.

Please pray and plan to attend the Tenth Retreat on May 30, 31, and June 1. Check the details on the website about this exciting weekend, be sure to register online, and mark your calendars for this exciting time of fellowship and teaching.

The Session agreed that after the Friday, May 16 Congregational Meeting, there will be a forum for members to express their thoughts about the elders’ confession, which was earlier given. Plan to stay after the meeting to address comments or questions to the elders. Or, if you wish to contact your parish elder about these topics, please feel free to do that as well.

The Session encourages all to attend the upcoming Day of Prayer on Sunday, June 1 at 9 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Join with others to pray for the ministry of Tenth and enjoy some good fellowship. Pray for elders meeting with people for pastoral issues.

The Session encourages all to attend (if you have not done so yet) the Parish Meetings this month. Please check the schedule for your parish.

“. . . in these last days, he (God) has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.” Hebrews 1:2 (NIV)

Sincerely for the Session,
George K. McFarland
Clerk of Session
