Did you know that Tenth International Fellowship (TIF) meets for worship every Sunday morning just upstairs in Fellowship Hall West? What a fantastic opportunity to walk upstairs (or take the elevator!) at 11 AM on Sundays to visit our warm and welcoming community of believers. Get to know our ever-growing congregation of international students and scholars and missionaries; eat delicious homemade foods from around the world at one of our monthly luncheons, Saturday fellowships, or special Christmas or Lunar New Year dinnersBible studiesbeach-side weekend retreat.
Why TIF is Unique
TIF is a unique ministry at Tenth because, quite literally, the world is brought to our own door—the mission field lies before us. Rarely is such an opportunity presented to anyone to witness in such a special and intimate way to those from lands so far away. We have members and visitors from many countries, and these visitors come to our services seeking friendship, fellowship, connection, and help in becoming acclimated to this new city so far away and different from their homes.
Sunday Worship Services
Every Sunday, we meet together at 11 AM for a worship service, including a wonderful message by TIF Director Enrique Leal (from Colombia), TIF Intern Jinan Zhang (from China), or Global Outreach Director Bruce McDowell (born and raised in Paraguay!). Occasionally we host guests speakers—this weekend we will be joined by Rev. Jaime Leal, pastor of a church in Santa Marta, Columbia, founder of the children's home Hogar La Providencia, and host of our own Tenth Colombia missions trips.
Thanksgiving Hosting Opportunity
Is hospitality your spiritual gift? Maybe you cook and carve a mean turkey? Perhaps you have known what it's like to feel alone at the holidays? Do you have a knack for making complete strangers feel comfortable and at ease as soon they meet you? Consider hosting a foreign student, scholar, or professional in your home this Thanksgiving. Every year, we present the opportunity to connect members of the congregation with foreign visitors in Philadelphia. We have a number of students who have never experienced an American Thanksgiving, and who are alone this year but hoping to be hosted. Hear their stories, share yours, forge a friendship, but most importantly, share the love of Jesus through word and deed. You can email Ruth or visit the post in Volunteer Opportunities to learn more about hosting a student this Thanksgiving.
International Students Christian Fellowship
Another great opportunity to connect and serve with TIF is our Saturday dinnertime fellowship, called the West Philadelphia International Students Christian Fellowship (ISCF). These evenings include international food, music, and Bible study discussions. We meet at 6:30 PM every Saturday at Woodland Presbyterian Church (401 S. 42nd Street), and we'd would be honored to have you join us.
