Installation Sunday

We look forward to the installation of Dr. Jonny Gibson as Tenth’s next minister this Sunday, September 20. For this occasion, there are some changes to our regular Sunday events.

9:00am: Church Prayer Gathering

At 9am in the Sanctuary, we will gather as a church to pray together. Also, Jonny will lay out his vision for Tenth. Youth (6th-12th grades) and Adult Bible School classes will not meet; please attend the prayer gathering instead. Nursery and Children’s Bible School (8 weeks through 5th grade), however, plan to meet as normal on Sunday. If you’re visiting us for the weekend and would like your children to attend Nursery or Bible School, please consider registering in advance so we can plan adequate volunteers.

11:00am: Combined Morning Worship Service

This Sunday, there will be only a single morning worship service at 11am. The nursery will be available, but there will not be any other childcare at this time. We welcome your children (and their noises) in the Sanctuary for the service. If you’re visiting with us and plan to use the nursery, please consider registering in advance so we can plan adequate volunteers.

2:00pm Afternoon Worship Service

The 2pm worship service will not meet. Please join us for the Morning Service and the Evening Installation Service instead. Translation to Spanish and American Sign Language will be available for the Evening Installation Service.

5:15pm: Installation Service

The prelude will begin at 5:15pm, earlier than usual, before the service formally starts at 5:30pm. The nursery will be available, but there will not be any other childcare at this time. We welcome your children (and their noises) in the Sanctuary for the service. If you’re visiting with us and plan to use the nursery, please register in advance so we can plan adequate volunteers.

You can get a free copy of Jonny’s book, Come, Thou Found of Every Blessing, on your way in the Spruce Street Entrance.

7:30pm: Installation Banquet

RSVPs for the installation banquet have already closed, and we are thoroughly at capacity.

If you have RSVPed to attend, please bring a side or dessert in a disposable container. We are expecting about 150 of these sides and desserts and cannot realistically return containers to their rightful owners. Please drop off dishes in Reception Hall no earlier than 4:30pm. There will not be refrigerator, freezer, or kitchen space space available for storing dishes.

Parking Adjustments

We expect a significant number of visitors for this weekend. If you are a Tenth regular and are able to walk a few blocks, please consider parking in the garages and leaving the nearer street parking spaces available for those who cannot walk the distance. Garage parking information is available here.

On Sunday morning, our typical Sunday parking guidelines will apply with no changes.

On Sunday evening, our typical Sunday parking guidelines will apply with two additions:

  • Parking on the North side of Lombard street from 16th Street to 19th Street, which is usually available only 8am-2pm will instead be available 8am-10pm.
  • Parking on the North side of Locust street from 18th Street (Rittenhouse Square) to 16th Street will be available 4pm-10pm.

If you do use street parking, please make sure you do not block garages or driveways, and be sure to put a parking placard on your dashboard. Parking placards are available online or at the Spruce Street entrance to the church.
