Technical Intern (Summer)

The Technical Intern is a seasonal summer internship designed for a college student pursuing a technical field of study (e.g., computer science, information systems, engineering, media production, or related disciplines). The intern will support the organization’s technology and media initiatives through hands-on project work under the supervision of the Director of Technology.

This role is intentionally project‑focused and developmental, providing practical experience while contributing meaningful work. The position does not include Sunday services or event support unless the intern explicitly expresses interest in participating in those activities.

  • Schedule: Monday through Thursday
  • Typical Hours: 20–35 hours per week (flexible based on availability and project needs)
  • Start/End Dates: Flexible, aligned with the intern’s academic calendar
  • Location: On-campus and/or hybrid depending on project requirements.

Learning Outcomes

  • Real‑world experience working on production systems and live projects
  • Exposure to organizational technology planning and decision‑making
  • Development of technical, documentation, and collaboration skills
  • Mentorship from experienced technical staff

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Duties will be tailored to the intern’s academic background and learning goals.  Depending on skills, interests, and organizational needs, responsibilities may include:

Software & Systems Development

  • Assisting with application development or automation
  • Web development, advancing the systems behind tenth.org
  • Scripting, integrations, or light database work

Audio / Visual & Media Systems

  • Assisting with evaluation, documentation, improvement, and installation of AV systems
  • Supporting testing and configuration of technology
  • Creating technical documentation and diagrams

Media & Event Production (Optional Focus Area)

Strictly optional, based on expressed interest by the intern:

  • Video editing and post‑production
  • Asset organization and workflow improvements
  • Assisting with production planning or experimentation
  • Assisting with technical operations in support of Sunday and special events

General Technical Support

  • Researching tools, platforms, or solutions
  • Participating in planning and design discussions
  • Performing other technical tasks aligned with learning objectives

 

Qualifications:

  • A Christian, actively engaged in a local church.  Must continue to regularly attend a church during the internship (Tenth or any other Bible-believing church nearby).
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a technical or media‑related field or recent high school graduate exploring technical fields.
  • Interest in technology, systems, or media production

Experience:

Skills:

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following is helpful but not required:
    • Programming or scripting languages (especially PHP, Python, JS, C#)
    • Web technologies (HTML/CSS/JS, CMS platforms)
    • Audio, video, or lighting systems
    • Video editing or media tools
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly
