Note No. 2
When I first began attending Tenth, I knew nothing about reformed Christianity. I am forever grateful to the friend who first brought me here in 1998. I have been blessed by the rich teaching, meaningful and beautiful music.
On a more personal level, I have been blessed by the love and prayers of the congregation through difficult times. I completed the membership class in December of 1999. I believe God brought me to Tenth at just the right time. In the spring of 2000, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. As I prepared for surgery, I carried a printout of Dr. Boice’s last address to our congregation with me to the hospital. What an inspiration he was to me, as I pondered how he went through his final days with such confidence and unshakeable faith in our Father!
Just two months after my chemotherapy was finished, my husband underwent a quintuple heart bypass. Although he was not a member of Tenth, he was prayed for, visited, and shown love by pastors, elders and interns. One elder in particular continued to visit him at home and called him regularly from wherever he was as he traveled on business.
Although Tenth is a big church, I have never felt as though I was lost in the crowd. Over the years, I have met wonderful people and made good friends through small groups and by serving in small ways.
