Last Sunday (8/17) evening Carroll Wynne preached "Beating Expectations" based on Matthew 11:25-30.

It's interesting that on Wall Street they surpass expectations rather than merely meeting them. In the rest of life, though, expectations are often linked with disappointment. In this passage John and the current generation at the time of Christ found that their expectations of Christ came up short, and as a result, they missed the opportunity of seeing Jesus.

Two underlying themes are woven throughout this passage:

  • Deeds vs beliefs (or expectations)
  • Names used for Christ
