Lausanne was founded in 1974 by Dr. Billy Graham and Rev. John Stott and has played a unique role in connecting the leaders of the global church and guiding the strategy for global missions. Lausanne has hosted the three largest and most globally representative gatherings of church leaders in the 2000 year history of the church. It has also helped to introduce and champion some of the key mission strategies of our day including integral mission, unreached people groups, the 10/40 window, and Business As Mission. The Lausanne Covenant is the most globally used statement of faith and mission today, and the Lausanne Movement is playing a unique role in mobilizing the global church to catalytically collaborate to address the greatest gaps and opportunities for the Great Commission in our generation. Lausanne has helped to shape the global vision and Christ-like character of leaders such as Ajith Fernando, John Piper, and Ravi Zacharias.
