Mercy Conference: Multiplying Voices

March 18, 2022 - March 20, 2022

Multiplying Voices

…for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation. Revelation 5:9b

God is multiplying voices to worship at His throne, and those voices don’t speak the same language. In the past months, he has opened two doors for Tenth members to expand the reach of the gospel to the Hispanic and Deaf communities of Philadelphia. The South Philadelphia Immigrants Outreach has been investing in relationships with 90 Hispanic families with a vision for a Spanish language worship service at Tenth. Our newly formed Deaf ministry outreach is seeking to build on Tenth’s years of making the gospel accessible to the Deaf community through American Sign Language translation to welcoming this community into our church family. Do you have a desire to strengthen your cultural competence in reaching out to the Hispanic and the Deaf?

Please come and join us as our speakers, who are PCA leaders in Hispanic and Deaf Ministries, speak to us and challenge us to learn how we as a body can not only be welcoming to these communities but how we can learn about God’s heart for these cultures and think through practical ideas and goals in developing these ministry opportunities.

Hernando Saenz

Peter Doerfler

Hernando was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and lived there until he was 15 years old. In 1979 his family immigrated to Miami, Florida where he lived until 1982. From 1982 to 1986, he served overseas in the United States Air Force. He met his wife Debbie, a native Floridian, upon his return to Florida in 1986. Hernando and Debbie were born again under the ministry of PCA pastor Rev. Al LaCour and married in 1990 in Immanuel PCA church in Miami.

In 1992, Hernando and Debbie started attending Christ Covenant PCA Church in Broward County Florida where Hernando began his mentorship under the ministry of Rev. Brian Kelso. He was ordained as a Deacon and served as chairman of the Diaconate until his ordination as a Ruling Elder. In 1995, Hernando accepted a position on the church staff to oversee all the church ministries. From 1998 until 2001 he served as the youth pastor.

In 2001, Hernando was licensed to preach by the Presbytery of Southern Florida. Later that year he planted Iglesia Principe de Paz. in Broward County, Florida. When Hernando left Iglesia Principe de Paz in 2004 the church had a small men’s group, a ladies prayer group, and youth and children ministries meeting on a weekly basis. In addition to that, he was training two men as potential ruling elders.

The Sáenz family moved to Atlanta, Georgia to plant, Grace International Church, a multicultural and bilingual church. Grace International Church merged with Christos Community Church, a bilingual PCA mission church, when Hernando joined the staff of Mission to North America in January 2011 as Hispanic Ministries Coordinator.
