Director, Academic Resource Center at Cairn University


The Academic Resource Center (ARC) is seeking a director for a full-time, year-round position which will report to the Vice President and Dean of Students. The University seeks to fill this position by August 2023.

The ARC provides programs to assist students in achieving academic success. These programs include support services for students with disabilities, the Academic Success Program for conditionally accepted students, and additional services for students who may receive support with writing, mathematics, time-management, note-taking, and other types of tutoring and mentoring. The ARC is subject to certain state and federal laws requiring documentation, planning, and recordkeeping.

The ARC Director is responsible for providing leadership in developing and administering academic support services available to the whole student body. Duties include assisting with the implementation of the Academic Success Program, including planning, orientations, meetings, coordination of student services, guiding students in course registration and adjustment, monitoring academic progress, and maintaining detailed records of students’ requirements and progress. Other duties involve coordination of Academic Support Services such as the writing lab, training and assignment of student tutors, oversight of social media accounts for the ARC, and conducting one-on one support meetings with students on time management, organization, study skills, etc. This position will also provide support to the coordination of services for students with disabilities.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and training, knowledge, or experience in the field of social work, counseling, or education. Master’s degree is preferred. Strong administrative and organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with other departments, and a high regard for confidentiality and customer service are required.
