Philippians: A Hymn of Joy

Throughout this short and very personal epistle, Paul’s keynote message is one of joy. The word is found five times; the verb rejoice occurs eleven times. Some have referred to this epistle as Paul’s “hymn of joy” to the Philippians. Paul, however, was in prison waiting the death sentence, but wants to assure these believers and us that being a Christian is a joyful experience, despite the circumstances we may face. Come to this class to learn and discuss how Paul develops this theme.
